The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office was called out early Friday morning to investigate a report of a 14-year-old runaway in southern Vigo County.
Deputies started investigating the juvenile’s movements. During the inquiry, officers located an adult with whom the youngster had been speaking. After identifying this adult, deputies were able to use Flock cameras to show the adult’s vehicle entering the area to pick up the child and remaining nearby, allowing them to concentrate their search to motels and businesses along South US 41.
Deputies eventually spotted the vehicle at a hotel. A room connected to the vehicle’s registered owner was searched, and deputies discovered the juvenile safe.
Brandon Claytor, 21, of Indianapolis, was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
The youngster was restored to her parents.
The investigation is still ongoing to uncover the entire extent of the interaction between the adult and the child.
Claytor could face more charges.
