The father of a woman missing after a car crashed into the Little Calumet River in West Pullman Tuesday morning said her body was found Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 2:31 a.m. Tuesday in the 13000 block of South Indiana Avenue.
Police said five adults were in the vehicle when it lost control, collided with a barrier, and ended up in the water.
According to police, three passengers made it to land safely.
The marine crew rescued Trumayne Sanders, 24, and sent him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.
Ralphelle Howard was missing until Wednesday.
Chicago police and fire authorities did not immediately respond to calls for comment on the recovery.
The 24-year-old driver of the vehicle was later charged with failure to reduce speed.
According to local residents, this is not the first time a crash has occurred at the crossing.I’ve been here for 13 years, and this has happened multiple times before,” said neighborhood resident Albert Miller. “They need to put more signs, so people can be aware of the turn and be cautious.”
