A Collin County resident was apprehended this week after making threats against President Donald Trump.
Ronnie “Chip” Austin, Jr., a 56-year-old Allen man, was arrested on June 4 and charged with uttering threats against President Donald Trump.
Austin Jr is believed to have disseminated the threats through interstate commerce. On June 5, he stood before a judge and was charged in the Eastern District of Texas.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to “repel the invasion of illegal immigration, to achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organisations (TCOs), and to protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime”, according to a press release.
The FBI is investigating the matter, and Assistant United States Attorney Christopher Rapp is prosecuting it.
The nature of the danger against President Trump is unclear.
