A driver is under arrest after reportedly leading Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and local police on a high-speed chase through Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix, with law enforcement clocking the car at over 125 mph. The pursuit ended when officers moved in and arrested the driver. Authorities have not yet published the suspect’s name, any charges, or additional information on traffic problems and public safety concerns.
According to Arizona’s Family, DPS troopers and local authorities pursued the speeding vehicle across various East Valley cities and into Phoenix, where it reached speeds of more than 125 mph at times. The outlet’s initial report did not include the suspect’s identity, a mug shot or booking information.
High-speed pursuits are not uncommon in the Valley, and they are always dangerous for everyone on the road. Previous cases demonstrate that the DPS and other officials have routinely encountered cars travelling at triple-digit speeds on urban motorways. A previous ABC15 article featured a motorway pursuit in which a dash-mounted speedometer reached 125 mph, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s news page constantly updates traffic enforcement actions throughout the region. This pattern explains why DPS and municipal departments frequently work together on motorway pursuits and public messages.
Arizona’s Family remains the primary public narrative of Thursday’s chase, and officials in Maricopa County or the affected communities may disclose formal booking or charging information later. We will monitor official comments and records and update coverage when they become available from agencies.
