Liquor Theft Scheme Arrested in Central Florida

A liquor theft scheme was discovered in Central Florida.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people following an investigation into an organized theft plot aimed at a Tampa-based alcohol distribution company.

The Central Florida corporation disclosed an ongoing inside theft involving a delivery driver, a warehouse associate, and a third suspect.

Detectives discovered that warehouse employees hid cases of high-end booze on pallets during midnight shifts. The stolen items were then put onto delivery trucks after security seals were destroyed and reapplied.

According to local law enforcement, the delivery driver intentionally left the warehouse without reporting the breached seals and made prohibited stops along the way, particularly at a Wendy’s in Seffner. At these places, the stolen liquor was transported to a vehicle driven by the third suspect. The material was subsequently delivered to a property on the 14000 block of Alistar Manor Drive in Wimauma, where it was stored and sold.

Detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant at the home and recovered nearly $75,000 in stolen liquor.

The following individuals were arrested as part of this investigation:

  • 54-year-old Darrell Glass for Organized Fraud Over $50,000, Grand Theft Second Degree, and Dealing in Stolen Property.
  • 31-year-old Mario Bancroft for Organized Fraud Over $50,000, and Grand Theft Second Degree.
  • 45-year-old Lateisha Glass for Grand Theft Second Degree, and Dealing in Stolen Property.

In addition, law officials seized a 2022 Toyota Corolla used in the crime.
