UPDATE: Anderson County Schools administration reports that law enforcement has cleared the building after a threat earlier this morning.
Officials will release students from Anderson County High School to go home while police conduct a sweep of the building using a K-9 unit. Parents can check out students at Legion Park across from the school, while bus riders will be transported as usual.
Afternoon preschool has been canceled, and morning preschool will dismiss at its regular time. All other schools in the county remain in session and will release at their normal times.
ORIGINAL STORY: Anderson County School Superintendent Sheila Mitchell said a threat was reported against Anderson County High School.
Authorities received the threat through a call to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Mitchell stated that officials evacuated the school as a precaution, and all other schools in the county were placed on lockdown.
Kentucky State Police and Anderson County law enforcement are investigating the building. Once officers clear the site, students and staff will be allowed to return.
Anderson County School officials are asking the public to avoid Anderson County High School so law enforcement can carry out their investigation.
