LMPD recovers more than 40 stolen firearms

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — The Louisville Metro Police Department has recovered more than 40 stolen firearms following a reported burglary, according to a Tuesday update.

Police said the victim initially reported that about 40 firearms had been stolen.

LMPD’s Third Division and SWAT teams executed multiple search warrants to locate the weapons.

Within 48 hours of the report, officers recovered a total of 48 firearms.

Officials said their priority was to recover the stolen guns before they could be distributed and used to harm the community.

Investigators expect to make additional arrests as they continue working to identify others involved. Police also said more charges are likely as the investigation moves forward.
