Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks for public input on improving two busy Ashland roadways

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking public input on two heavily traveled roadways in Ashland.

Greenup Avenue and Winchester Avenue are the focus of a corridor study currently underway by the cabinet.

Officials have launched an online survey to collect feedback on capacity, mobility, and safety concerns.

“There have been several issues on some of the intersections without traffic control devices,” said Ashland Mayor Chuck Charles.

Transportation officials say roughly 23,000 vehicles travel along Greenup Avenue each day, making it dangerous for pedestrians trying to cross the roadway.

“There’s nothing set in stone. Literally at this point it’s just gathering options, opinions of what the public would like to see done,” said public information officer LeAnn Norton.

Norton added that officials will use the survey results to help determine future road improvement projects.

The survey will be open through May 4.
