LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A bicyclist died after a vehicle struck him and trapped him underneath during a crash Monday night in Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, Third Division officers responded around 8:20 p.m. to the 4900 block of West Pages Lane following reports of a crash involving a bicyclist.
Police said their preliminary investigation found that an adult male was riding his bike on West Pages Lane when a vehicle traveling in the same direction hit him.
After the impact, the man lost control of his bicycle and became trapped beneath the vehicle, police said. The vehicle continued moving for “a distance” before the male driver stopped and called for help.
PRP EMS and fire crews arrived at the scene, where they pronounced the man dead.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the incident and will consult with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to determine whether any charges will be filed.
Police said the road remains closed at this time as the investigation continues.
