A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old boy near Waterfront Park.
Louisville Metro Police said officers responded to a reported stabbing at the intersection of North Floyd Street and East Witherspoon Street around 10:21 p.m., following Thunder Over Louisville.
When officers arrived, they found a teenage boy with a laceration resulting from an altercation.
Emergency responders transported the victim to UofL Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to court documents, police arrested 45-year-old Vasilis Sakellaridis in connection with the stabbing.
Witnesses identified the suspect to officers as he tried to flee the scene, court documents state. Officers ordered him to stop, but he kept running.
Police reported seeing a knife in Sakellaridis’ hand as he fled, and he later dropped it.
Court documents also state that officers found homemade brass knuckles near his right hand. Police said he was “highly intoxicated and causing alarm to other event participants.”
Sakellaridis now faces charges of assault, alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, and fleeing or evading police.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
