Scammers are increasingly targeting seniors with deceptive tactics.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is alerting local seniors about rising scam threats.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office teamed up with CenterWell Senior Primary Care to reveal how scammers are targeting older adults.

The initiative aimed to equip seniors with the knowledge and tools needed to stay safe as scams become more advanced. Officials said scammers now use technology to spoof phone numbers and gather personal details, making their calls appear more credible.

“These scams aren’t about whether someone is intelligent or not,” said Chief Deputy Steve Healey. “They rely on the scammer’s ability to deceive.”

Authorities emphasized that the sheriff’s office, or any government agency, will never call and immediately demand money. If you receive such a call, you should hang up right away.
