LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police arrested a man Monday for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend earlier this month in Louisville’s Shawnee neighborhood.
Authorities charged Davon Gant, 30, with assault-domestic violence in connection with the March 9 incident.
The shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of South 44th Street, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Court documents state the victim was outside visiting friends when Gant and another suspect arrived and opened fire, shooting multiple rounds at her. Police said she suffered three gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital. At the time, officers believed her injuries were not life-threatening. Documents also confirm the two previously dated.
Gant and the second suspect fled before officers arrived. Police arrested him Monday afternoon on a warrant.
He pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday morning. The court set his bond at $25,000 cash. He remains in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and is scheduled to appear in court again on April 1.
