Derek Pixley faces charges in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Brittney Boman, in the woods off Brownstown Road in Henryville.
Derek Pixley is accused of killing his girlfriend, Brittney Boman, on Oct. 2, 2022. Authorities arrested Pixley in May 2025.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The trial for an Indiana man accused of murdering his girlfriend in Henryville in 2022 has been pushed back.
Pixley was originally set to stand trial on March 3, but court records show the date has been postponed three months to June 1.
Indiana State Police arrested Pixley in May 2025 and charged him with murder.
Investigators allege he shot Brittney Boman in the woods off Brownstown Road in October 2022.
Boman survived the initial shooting but died two months later, on Dec. 30, 2022.
According to court documents, Pixley’s defense attorney, Sunnye Bush-Sawtelle, argued that investigators failed to fully consider another man as a potential suspect during the years-long investigation.
The attorney said the individual is a former confidential informant for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and claimed he changed his alibi multiple times.
At a Feb. 5 hearing, several sheriff’s office employees confirmed that the man had altered his alibi.
On Feb. 12, Judge Nicholas Karaffa ruled that attorneys may review the man’s confidential informant file in court offices while all parties are present.
WHAS11 is not identifying the former confidential informant because he has not been charged in Boman’s death.
Pixley’s final pretrial conference is set for May 12.
