Oakley Hacker

Oakley Hacker 108, born on October 2, 1916, passed away May 12th, 2025 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center. The son of William “Crow” Hacker and Mary Hornsby Hacker. He’s preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Nella Mae Ruth Hacker and his daughter Mona LaTurza Cochran, his brother Private Luther Hacker and sisters Mildred Morgan, Etha Kinder, Opal Rogers and Anna Mae Turner.
He is survived by his children, Vallery LaTurza of Lexington, Fatima Brown (Larry) of Manchester, Vincent Hacker (Ann) of Manchester. His grandchildren Tracy Brown Mott (Robert) of Manchester, Tracy Smith of Lexington, Tony Eric
Hacker (Michile) of Manchester, Rebecca Sakaley (Jim) of Columbia Station, Ohio, Abigail Carter (Joey) of London; 12 great-grandchildren and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Oak was a WWII Navy Veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7606 and a 50-year member of Clay Lodge 798, and a member of Island Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Our hearts are broken but we are comforted knowing he is in his Heavenly Home. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center where he lived the last years of his life with dignity, grace and kindness surrounded by people who loved and cared for him.
To celebrate his life and memories we will forever cherish, a service will be held Friday May 16th at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel in Manchester, KY. Visitation at noon, funeral at 2pm. Joshua Holland, retired Navy Chaplain officiating.
We welcome all who knew him to join us to celebrate a life well lived. He will be laid to rest at Manchester Memorial Gardens
