Spring Turkey Season Set to Begin in Kentucky
April 11, 2025

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky’s eagerly awaited spring turkey hunting season is just around the corner, offering hunters of all ages a chance to take to the woods in search of wild turkey.
The Youth-Only Season will kick things off with a special two-day window set for Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6, 2025, giving young hunters the first opportunity to enjoy the spring tradition. This dedicated weekend allows youth hunters a quieter, less competitive environment to learn and hone their skills.
The General Spring Turkey Season opens the following weekend on Saturday, April 12, and continues through Sunday, May 4, 2025 — a 23-day stretch that traditionally begins on the Saturday closest to April 15 each year.
Shooting hours for both youth and general seasons run from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. However, hunters are permitted to be in the field outside of shooting hours to scout and prepare for their hunt.
As always, hunters are reminded to follow all state regulations and safety guidelines, and to ensure proper licensing and permits are secured before heading out.
