20 Employees of Pennsylvania Charter School Charged with Child Abuse

MEDIA, Pa. — Twenty employees of a Pennsylvania charter school are facing child abuse charges following an extensive investigation, the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Prosecutors revealed that the investigation uncovered numerous instances of abuse and child endangerment involving more than two dozen elementary school students, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. Authorities stated that much of the alleged mistreatment was captured on video.

“You can see them doing pressure point holds on the child’s shoulder, causing them pain. You can see them grabbing their hands and putting them in front of them to restrain them. Oftentimes, you can see them then using their knee to take the child to the ground,” said Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer. “And in at least one incident, I saw them jack a kid up against a wall. This is just unacceptable behavior.”

In response to the allegations, Chester Community Charter School announced that all accused employees had been terminated. The school stated that families were promptly notified upon discovery of the allegations. Despite the disturbing findings, the school confirmed that all affected families have chosen to keep their children enrolled.

The investigation remains ongoing.
