Delbert Hearld Nolan
January 23, 2025
Delbert Hearld Nolan, 87, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour on January 19, 2025. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on November 1, 1937, to the late Elvin C. and Sarah A. (Gray) Nolan.
Delbert married Dorothy Mae Lynch on April 27, 1957, and they enjoyed more than 50 wonderful years together until her passing in 2008. Delbert owned and managed a used car lot, Nolan's Auto Mart, for many years. He was also the owner/operator of Steven's Carpet Cleaning. Delbert was a hard worker who took great pride in caring for his family and will be remembered as being very protective of his children. He loved being outdoors, cutting firewood, taking care of his yard and gardening. Delbert loved to grow and eat green beans. But more than anything, Delbert loved get-togethers with his siblings when they would target shoot or simply share stories. He also enjoyed having his grandchildren around, watching them play and telling them "long-winded tales."
Left behind to cherish Delbert's memory are his son, Delbert "Gene" (Marie) Nolan; daughter, Tammy (Joe) Sage; grandchildren, Brad (Christy) Nolan, Miranda (Marty) Sporleder, Michael (Brittany) Nolan, Kelly (Ryan) Williams, Cory (Brandi) Nolan, Derek (Hannah) Sage, Dylan (Taylor) Sage, Erica Greene, and Devon Sage; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild "on the way"; and siblings, Tony (Macusha) Nolan and Troy (Sharon) Nolan.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Mae Nolan; his parents, listed above; one son, David Brian Nolan; his twin sister, Nellie Pearl Varner, and sisters Roberta McKinney, Nancy Mildred Sowder, and Arlena Minton; and brother, Steve Raymond Nolan.
