Francis convicted of manslaughter 2nd
September 20, 2023
The trial over the death of a well-known trucker came to an end Wednesday after three days.
The jury returned a guilty verdict against Alfred Francis, 40, for manslaughter 2nd. He was originally indicted for murder in the death of J.D. "Black Stallion" Hacker in a two vehicle accident on Ky. 66 in April 2019.
Francis' defense team did not call any witnesses to the stand during the trial citing the Commonwealth did not meet the burden of proof to convict.
The charge of murder was an option for the jury but they returned manslaughter 2nd which only carries a sentence of 5-10 years.
During the penalty phase, the jury did recommend the maximum sentence. Formal sentencing is set for November 6th.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
