A 25-year-old man Louisville police describe as a “dangerous individual” was arrested Friday in connection with at least two sexual assaults.
Louisville Metro Police said Huber Iran Argello-Aguilar was taken into custody with assistance from the department’s Air, Fugitive and SWAT units. He faces charges including sodomy, wanton endangerment, rape, assault, unlawful imprisonment and menacing.
According to an arrest warrant, the July 28 assault occurred after Argello-Aguilar allegedly offered a woman a ride in Jefferson County. Once she got into the vehicle, he reportedly held a knife to her throat and demanded a sexual act. The woman escaped when she noticed police lights and flagged down officers. She told investigators the suspect was a stranger.
Police said Argello-Aguilar was detained at the scene and taken to the Office of Sexual and Physical Investigations, where he was swabbed for DNA. Testing revealed the victim’s DNA on his body.
“These charges stem from heinous crimes that have deeply impacted victims and our community. We are committed to ensuring justice and maintaining the safety of Louisville’s residents,” LMPD said in a statement.
The investigation remains active, and police said more charges are possible. Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Argello-Aguilar is urged to contact LMPD’s Office of Sexual and Physical Investigations at 502-574-2465.
