As the first low-pressure system exits the Northeast, another one is set to move across the country, bringing gusty winds, cooler temperatures, and widespread rain.
The National Weather Service has already issued excessive rainfall outlooks for parts of the Mid-South and Northeast, signaling the potential for heavy downpours and localized flooding.
While this system will first pass through the Plains, the heaviest rainfall is expected later as it draws in moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic. Forecast models indicate the greatest rain totals will fall across Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina.
