Two teenage girls were hospitalized Sunday night after a shooting in Louisville’s Chickasaw neighborhood, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).

Officers responded around 9:30 p.m. on October 5 to a ShotSpotter alert in the 3300 block of Greenwood Avenue. While on the way, the call was upgraded to a confirmed shooting.

When police arrived at the scene, they found no victims. Moments later, they were redirected to the 3300 block of West Broadway, where two teenage girls — both believed to be 16 years old — had arrived with gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical personnel transported both victims to UofL Hospital, where they are expected to survive.

Detectives are now investigating what led up to the shooting and are working to determine a possible motive.

So far, no suspects have been identified. LMPD is asking anyone with information to call the Anonymous Tip Line at (502) 574-LMPD or submit a tip through the department’s online Crime Tip portal.
