GREENUP COUNTY, KY – Greenup County 911 dispatch has issued a flash flood warning until 10:15 a.m. for several counties in Kentucky and Ohio.
The National Weather Service reports high water in the area and has extended the warning to northwestern Boyd County and southeastern Greenup County in Kentucky, as well as southwestern Lawrence County in Ohio.
Thunderstorms have already produced heavy rainfall, with 3.5 to 5 inches recorded and an additional 0.5 to 1 inch expected. Areas at risk for flash flooding include Ashland, Ironton, Coal Grove, Naples, Flatwoods, Russell, Raceland, Worthington, Wurtland, Bellefonte, Westwood, and Hanging Rock.
Officials advise residents to avoid flooded roads, stay aware of their surroundings, and not attempt to drive through high water.
