MS-13 gang member apprehended by ICE after attempted escape led to crash in Alexandria

An illegal immigrant and MS-13 gang member was apprehended by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after attempting to flee in a chaotic crash in Alexandria, federal officials claimed.

On October 29, ICE’s Fugitive Operations Team in Washington, D.C., captured Walter Alexander Soto-Rodriguez. The agency stated that he is a “documented member of the MS-13 Gangsters Clique.”

During the arrest attempt, Soto-Rodriguez allegedly clipped an ICE vehicle and struck numerous parked cars before weaving around other vehicles and crossing into oncoming traffic at high speeds. ICE said he lost control and smashed into a railing.

ICE agents pinned the vehicle, but Soto-Rodriguez got out and fled about 20 feet before being apprehended.

“Walter Alexander Soto-Rodriguez has proven to be a significant danger to our Northern Virginia communities,” ICE’s D.C. Field Office Director Robert Guadian stated. “Not only is he a member of a multinational terrorist organization, but he also demonstrated a clear disrespect for human life during his arrest.

According to ICE, Soto-Rodriguez entered the United States near Lukeville, Arizona, in May 2016 without first being accepted, inspected, or paroled by an immigration authority. An immigration judge ordered his removal from the country on May 8, 2025.

“This arrest demonstrates Secretary Mullin’s commitment to arresting and deporting criminal illegal aliens from American communities, as well as President Trump’s promise to Make America Safe Again,” the agency stated in a statement.

Soto-Rodriguez is still in ICE custody and will face due process.
