Woman on scooter taken into custody with BAC 3 times legal limit

A woman was taken into custody after driving a scooter with a blood alcohol level three times more than the legal limit, according to the Horizon City Police Department.

Officers arrived at Orchid Drive and Golden Eagle Road shortly after 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 for a welfare check on a lady allegedly riding a motorized scooter who had fallen down and seemed to be intoxicated.

An officer investigated the area and discovered 29-year-old Nina Teresa Jimenez, who matched the report’s description, near a business in the 14000 block of Rudi Kuefner Drive, police said.

Jimenez allegedly attempted to drive away.

During contact, officers observed that Jimenez displayed multiple signs of suspected intoxication, including difficulties maintaining her balance, shiny eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.

A witness reported that Jimenez was observed driving the scooter before collapsing. After the fall, she sought assistance and drove away.

According to police, Jimenez’s field sobriety tests proved that she had lost normal use of her mental or physical faculties as a result of the drinking.

She was arrested for driving while inebriated.

Jimenez later submitted breath specimens, which yielded values of 0.252 and 0.24. Both were more than three times Texas’ legal limit of 0.08.
