Cambria County man jailed after stolen gun and large sums of meth found during traffic stop

Police have apprehended a man after seizing a stolen gun, ammo, and a large bag of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

According to a criminal complaint, an officer pulled over a silver Pontiac SUV on September 14 after observing a flickering license plate light. The driver allegedly admitted that there was a problem with the lights and gave police her identity and the passenger’s.

However, investigators stated that a search of her identity revealed that she had a suspended driver’s license, but a search of the passenger’s name “Michael Zamboni” gave no results. According to the complaint, when officers asked for the passenger’s identity again, the driver informed them it was “Michael Delarre.”

Delarre allegedly informed officers that his name was “James,” not Michael, and that they were simply heading to Walmart for groceries.

Officers performed a search of his person and discovered a little plastic bag of methamphetamine and a 9mm bullet in his left jeans pocket. When asked for permission to search the vehicle, the driver stated that she was not the owner and would have to contact her mother for permission.

The mother eventually arrived at the scene and gave police permission to search the vehicle, which resulted in the seizure of a pink and silver Glock, a pink Glock magazine, a green Glock magazine, gold FMJ 9mm ammunition, a large, knotted plastic bag of methamphetamine, ten silver 9mm hollow point ammunition, a multi-color digital scale with residue, 199 small blue plastic bags, and 100 small purple bags.

The driver claimed that she got the rifle from a friend for $150 and that the other goods did not belong to her or that she was unaware they were in the car. State police in Bedford later reported the gun as stolen.

According to an affidavit, Delarre stated he had no knowledge of the black bag containing men’s clothing but confirmed the methamphetamines, packing supplies, and scale were his property.

Delaree was taken to Cambria County Jail by troopers after failing to make bail, which was set at 10% of $25,000. He was charged with offenses, including manufacturing, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; banned firearm possession; and receiving stolen property.
