Florida Inmate Charged With 10 Felonies After Stored Phone Reveals Child Abuse Material

A Port St. Lucie man already behind bars at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility now faces 10 additional felony charges after investigators found child sexual abuse material stored on his cell phone, authorities announced.

The case began in September 2025 when X Corp flagged an account for distributing child sexual abuse material and reported it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. That tip made its way to the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, where Broward County Sheriff’s Office detectives traced the account directly to Brandon Irizarry, 29.

By September 2026, Broward detectives discovered that Irizarry was already sitting in a Flagler County jail cell. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office had originally arrested him on May 28 for unlawfully exposing himself outside a Taco Bell on State Road 100. He pleaded guilty to that charge on June 2 and walked away with probation , but deputies picked him right back up the very next day for shoplifting at a nearby Target on State Road 100, which immediately violated his probation terms.

When authorities returned him to jail, deputies placed his cell phone into inmate property storage, where it sat untouched for three months.

Once Flagler detectives received word of the federal cyber tip connecting Irizarry to the illicit online activity, they teamed up with Broward investigators and obtained a search warrant to retrieve the phone from jail storage. Flagler detectives seized the device and handed it over to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for forensic analysis. Jurisdiction then shifted entirely back to Flagler County, since the phone had last been in Irizarry’s possession there.

A digital forensic examination of the device uncovered multiple files containing images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

“We told you about this sick pervert back in May when he was caught masturbating outside of a Taco Bell,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “I commend our partners at NCMEC, SFICAC, and BSO for investigating the original tip and for following through on our collective mission to protect children from perverts like him. Every one of those files on his device is a real child who was sexually abused. This pervert needs to go to prison for a very long time!”

Detectives arrested Irizarry at the jail facility on October 2, charging him with 10 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child. A judge set his bond at $150,000.

Authorities confirmed the investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing the phone’s full contents, and they expect to file additional criminal charges.
