Three Waldorf men were charged after deputies discovered them inside an vacant home that a property manager was about to list for sale.
Jayden Jermaine Blackman, 19, Israel James Bedney, 18, and Timothy Lee Johnson, 18, all from Waldorf, were charged with third-degree and fourth-degree burglary of a dwelling.
The allegations come from an incident that occurred around 12:22 p.m. on June 30, 2026, in the 1200 block of Sweetbriar Place.
According to the charging documents, a property manager visited the residence to check it and take photographs in preparation for sale. There was no one supposed to be residing there, and the house was anticipated to remain shut.
The property manager discovered the unlocked front door and entered the house. After hearing individuals inside, he walked upstairs and found Blackman, Bedney, and Johnson in a bedroom, according to charge documents.
Investigators said the three were listening to music and “hanging out” inside the house.
Deputies encircled the residence and broadcast repeated announcements over a patrol vehicle’s public address system, but no one replied. Officers then entered the home and discovered the three males in the second-floor living room.
According to the charging documents, all three followed directions to get on the ground and place their hands behind their backs. They were taken into custody and informed about their rights.
Blackman and Johnson declined to speak with the investigators. Bedney agreed to provide a statement and stated that he had finished summer school at Thomas Stone High School before Johnson picked him up and took him to his home.
Bedney also stated that Blackman had previously lived in the Sweetbriar Place apartment, which was “open,” according to the charging documents.
Deputies discovered no visible damage or evidence of forced entry. Investigators observed that Blackman had previously resided on the property and was familiar with it.
Vehicles were parked outside the house, and deputies discovered trash and one of the defendants’ speaker systems inside, according to criminal documents.
The three males were freed on recognizance.
Preliminary hearings for Blackman and Johnson are scheduled for July 29, 2026, in Charles County district court. Bedney’s felony discharge hearing is scheduled on August 11, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
