The Hart County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was discovered deceased in a house fire on Monday.
According to deputies, the Hart County Fire Department responded to a house fire on Mount Olivet Road near Rock Dust Road shortly after 5:30 p.m., with a person possibly trapped inside.
According to deputies, witnesses heard an explosion before witnessing flames rising from the house.
According to deputies, firefighters extinguished the fire that had completely engulfed the home, and one individual was discovered dead inside.
The victim has yet to be recognized.
The Hart County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with the Hart County Fire Department, the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Hart County Coroner’s Office to investigate the cause of the fire.
Deputies said the investigation is active and ongoing.
