Arlington police apprehended a man who they claim submitted a false report about a shooting.
Officers received a call at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday from a visitor at a motel in the 3000 block of Abram St. reporting that someone had been shot.
When cops arrived, they discovered no indication of a shooting or any criminal activity. They said they spoke with 41-year-old Oscar Vela Jr., who acknowledged fabricating the fraudulent allegation.
Vela Jr. has been charged with a single count of false report inducing emergency response. Police claimed he had additional outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was arrested for them as well.
According to jail records, Vela Jr.’s current bond is just over $4,000.
