A man has died after being shot over the weekend, according to Kansas City police, and detectives are now looking into what caused the fatal shooting.
Just before 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, the Kansas City Police Department stated emergency crews responded to the area of 63rd and Manchester Ave. after receiving reports of shots fired.
Officers also stated that while en route, they obtained fresh information pointing to a crash around 63rd and Beacon Ave.
When investigators arrived, they discovered a vehicle off the roadway. Inside, they discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound.
First responders reported that the Kansas City Fire Department EMS arrived at the same time and attempted life-saving efforts, but the individual was pronounced dead on the site.
The KCPD stated that officers are investigating the event as a homicide. There have been no arrests made.
Investigators said they are still looking into what caused the gunfire and how the victim was struck.
