The Barbour County Sheriff’s Office took into custody two people and seized drugs, money, firearms, and vehicles on Thursday after a five-month investigation, deputies announced.
According to Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith, in the early hours of April 30, 2026, deputies working with the sheriff’s office drug unit executed three warrants at three different residences.
After forcing admission, deputies confiscated the following:
- 714 grams of cocaine (estimated value: $71,400.00)
- 1,184 grams of methamphetamine (estimated value: $118,400.00)
- 309 grams of ecstasy pills (estimated value: $46,000.00)
- 125 grams of amphetamine salts (estimated value: $80,000.00)
- 618 grams of mushrooms (estimated value: $6,792.00)
- 1,860 grams of marijuana (estimated value: $37,200.00)
- 108 THC vape pens (estimated value: $4,320.00)
- 118 grams of synthetic cannabinoids (Spice) (estimated value: $2,950.00)
- 23 firearms, four of which were allegedly stolen
- Six containers of moonshine
- Three pairs of brass knuckles
- Three vehicles seized
- $512.00 in U.S. currency
As a result of the investigation, Don McClendon Jr., 69, and Xzavier Dontrail Hill, 28, were arrested, processed, and lodged into the Barbour County Jail.
The two are awaiting their bond hearing.
Sheriff Smith stated that his office’s drug squad had been investigating the matter for almost five months.
