March arrived like a lion, bringing a winter weather advisory for St. Louis and Louisville on Sunday night into Monday morning.

The National Weather Service predicted two to four inches of wet snow across the St. Louis metro area. The advisory stretched west through northern Missouri and into Kansas and Nebraska.

The advisory skipped over south central Illinois. Forecasters expected Mt. Vernon to see only a short period of snow before it changed to rain, with no significant accumulation.

The advisory picked back up from Indiana into Ohio. In Louisville, the winter weather advisory warned of up to an inch of a wintry mix, including snow, sleet and freezing rain.

As the workweek gets underway, the eastern half of the country will remain rainy but warm into the 70s by midweek.
